Tumtum & Nutmeg: Adventures Beyond Nutmouse Hall

Emily Bearn (2009), 503 pages
Illustrated by Nick Price
Audience: 2nd Grade - 4th Grade
Category: Fantasy, Junior Fiction
They'd prefer to have a nice, quiet life, but the mice of Nutmouse Hall encounter adventure after adventure in these three tales. Childless mice Tumtum and Nutmeg 'adopt' the children who live in Rose Cottage, where their own house is located, helping them by doing chores and leaving them surprises. In 'Tumtum and Nutmeg,' when the children's mean Aunt Ivy comes to town, determined to rid the house of mice, they have to figure out how to outwit her and get rid of her for good. In 'The Pirate's Treasure,' they encounter pirate rats and in 'The Great Escape' they have to rescue General Marchmouse from imprisonment. No matter how much they wish for an uneventful life, there's no such thing as a quiet day in the life of Tumtum and Nutmeg!
